SCHOOLS’ FOOTBALL

Hackney Under 11’s experienced mixed fortunes during their half-term programme. They overcame Gloucester B  2-0 but then failed to capitalise on  an early lead at Wandsworth and went down 3-1  in their last Kay Trophy group match of the season.

There were three debutants in Hackney’s line up against touring side Gloucester and the home side soon took the upper hand with Corey Samuel-Lucas and Tre Morgan combining well on the left and striker Connor Alloway twice coming close to opening the scoring. But it was half-time substitute Muhammadu Faal who made the difference, completing a mazy run with a smart finish within seconds of the re-start. Faal added a late second to complete a 2-0 success.

Hackney took their good form  to  Roehampton Playing Fields, going ahead against Wandsworth when full-back Yazid Ouriaghli drove home from eighteen yards as the home side failed to clear a corner.

But  after making little impact until then, Wandsworth hit back immediately to level . Hackney continued to create chances but were thwarted by some commendable goalkeeping and indecisive finishing for which they paid the price as the south Londoners struck two late goals to take the points.
