Kay Trophy

Hackney Under 11’s 0 Tower Hamlets Under 11’s 3

Hackney’s youngsters found the going tough at Doulgas Eyre as the driving rain and icy conditions took their toll of several key players but no one would deny that Tower Hamlets deserved the points.

The visitors took the initiative after an early Hackney effort had been ruled out for offside but excellent goalkeeping by the home side’s Ed Shepherd kept the scoresheet blank until he could only parry a fierce drive to the feet of Alfie Towsey who made no mistake from close range.

Hackney faired better in the second half and with the introduction of Connor Alloway in mid-field, chances fell to Faal and Aron Gordon who both went close with headers before Gordon’s stinging volley from twenty yards was well saved.

Defender Lewis Ellis kept his defence together as Hamlets hung on to their lead , and as Hackney committed more and more players forward, the visitors twice broke away

to make the game safe through Myer Chukwuonu and Pierce Arbiso.
