SCHOOLS’ FOOTBALL

Kay Trophy

Hackney Under 11’s  1, Lewisham under 11’s 2

It took all-conquering Lewisham until deep into the second Half to take the points against a resolute Hackney side. Lewisham , who had already reached the semi-finals of three major competitions this season,  staged their come -back after Hackney had taken a first-half lead .

Hackney began to look dangerous after their well-organised defence had weathered the visitors’ early raids. Connor Alloway began to provide pin-point crosses form the right and when he was tripped in the box,  skipper Sean Clare calmly netted the resulting penalty.

Hackney continued to look favourites until the south Londoners equalised with an unstoppable 20yard free-kick and then took  a winning lead after the hosts lost possession near the right corner flag and the resulting cross was easily converted. Hackney came with inches  of an equaliser with Muhammadu Faal’s backward header  but Lewisham clung on to gain their precious three points.
