Crisp Shield Round 1

Hackney Under 11’s 1, Islington Under 11’s 3

Islington made the most some hesitant defending by Hackney to clinch a second round Crisp Shield spot.

The visitors made were quickly on top as Hackney started cautiously and were soon rewarded when a lack of communication at the back provided Islington with a simple chance to go ahead.

Hackney equalised before the interval when mid-fielder Michee Efete threaded a low twenty yarder through a crowded penalty area and into the net.

The goal heralded Hackney’s best period of the game. They completely dominated play for fifteen minutes but efforts from Anselmo Gomes, Mohammadu Faal and Montel Shalders-Gayle were all well saved by goalkeeper  Zach Scott-Gray who was in inspired form.                          .

Islington were still looking dangerous on the break and went ahead again with a penalty, and then struck a third with the last kick of the game as Hackney failed to clear.
