Kay Trophy

Hackney Under 11’s 2, Islington Under 11’s 3

Despite two goals from leading scorer Charlie Waite and a good all-round performance, Hackney failed to overcome neighbours Islington in this Kay Trophy Group match.

Everything seemed to be in Hackney’s favour early on as their crisp passing resulted in a series of corners and some good chances, but it was the visitors who took the lead

when Harry Conway drove home from twenty yards in one of his team’s rare excursions into the home side’s territory.

The lively Waite hit a deserved equaliser, rounding off good work from Jordan Samuel-Welch on  the right, but just as Hackney  seemed to be totally in charge again, Islington struck on the break through Tevin Alebiosu to give them an interval lead.

Hackney again took control in the second half and drew level with a Waite penalty.

A winner seemed inevitable but it came at the other end when a twenty yard effort was palmed away by goalkeeper Banks but only to the feet of Alebiosu who made no mistake from six yards.
