Inter-District Match

Hackney Under 11’s 4, Islington Under 11’s 2

Both teams fielded large squads in this early season game, but Hackney had the advantage of having played together for two weeks while Islington were just setting out on their season’s programme.

Hackney’s experience showed for much of the game and with Martin Reilly and Charlie Waite both scoring twice, the home side established a 4-0 lead. But Islington hit back strongly in the final minutes as they put together their strongest side and rattled Hackney with two well-taken goals.

The teams will meet at least twice in competition games this season and, as always, the signs are that these will be closely contested, high quality encounters.
