Southern Counties Cup

Dacorum Under 11’s 1, Hackney Under 11’s 2

Striker William Miller marked his debut with both goals for Hackney in  this re-arranged tie played in heavy conditions at Hemel Hempstead and thus helped his team to a quarter-final tie away to Swindon.

Miller converted Charlie Waite’s second-minute cross as Hackney attempted to make best use of the slope and wind advantage but they were soon pegged back when Dacorum equalised from twenty yards. Elvis Kisikidi and Kojo Awotwi went close for Hackney but it was Dacorum who began to dominate and carried their advantage into the second-half.

As the visitors broke on the right Kisikidi found Miller on the edge of the penalty area and the debutant provided a clinical left-foot finish to put Hackney ahead again but that set up a nail-biting finish as Dacorum put the visitors under intense pressure in search of a second equaliser. Several efforts went  wide but, overall , Hackney’s defence remained in control to ensure a narrow victory.
