Inter-District Match

Hackney Under 11’s 3, Camden Under 11’s 0

When Hackney last played Camden it was at Arsenal’s Highbury Stadium in June. The occasion was the Kay Trophy Final and the winners were Hackney.

On Saturday, both teams fielded completely new squads in an early season Inter-District match in the more modest surroundings of the Doulgas Eyre Sports Centre, but the result was again a win for Hackney. However, Camden started brightly and outpassed the hosts for much of the first period but could not find the fire-power to take the lead.

Hackney gradually came to grips with the pace of district football and after a series of corners, Charlie Waite put his side ahead with a twenty-yard drive following a free kick. Eric Dwomoh’s long-range effort made it 2-0 and Waite was again on the mark for Hackney’s third to set the seal on an encouraging performance from the local side.
