Crisp Shield Round 1

Brent Under 11’s 1, Hackney Under 11’s 3

Hackney’s youngsters progressed to the second round of Crisp Shield in a thrill-a-minute encounter at Kingsbury.

The visitors made the early running and went ahead after ten minutes when the Brent goalakeeper could only palm away  Charlie Waite’s twenty yard effort and Martin Reilly followed up from close range.

Brent hit back quickly and twice struck the woodwork before Hackney went 2-0 up through skipper Myles Croxford, whose unstoppable left-footed drive rounded off an incisive right-wing move involving Reilly and midfielder Joshua Jospeh.

The second-half provided great excitement as play switched from end to end, but Brent’s pressure eventually paid off when they reduced the arrears. The Middelsex side had now gained the ascendancy and Hackney and their excellent goalkeeper Donnie Banks had to withstand ten minutes of intense pressure before Charlie Waite rounded off some neat inter-play with Reilly with a right-footed drive.

Hackney will now be at home to Newham or Havering in Round 2.
