Kay Trophy

Bermondsey Under 11’s 4, Hackney Under 11’s 1

An under-strength Hackney side took a first-half lead at Dulwich, but were then hit by a superb individual performance from Bermondsey striker Femi Akentunde who led his side to victory with a second-half hat-trick.

Hackney’s re-organised team took time to settle in the heavy conditions but a precise cross from mid-fielder Elvis Kisikindi put Charlie Waite through for the first goal. Bermondsey hit an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, and then Akintunde shook Hackney with his strength and pace to notch two goals from distance.

As the visitors pushed forward  Kojo Awotwi and Jak Lang came close, but Akintunde completed his hat-trick with a cool finish following a sixty-yard run.

Hackney’s Kay Trophy match with Islington in January is now likely to be important in deciding this year’s semi-finalists.
